Pump/Clean/Cap: The Process (What Filco Does)
- Obtain the necessary local permits. Contact the local fire, planning or building departments for information on local requirements. *(Currently this option applies to only the following: City of Seattle, City of Edmonds, Unincorporated Snohomish County).
- Find out what product is in the tank (heating oil, kerosene, waste oil, water, etc.).
- Have the residual heating oil or petroleum product pumped from the tank. Remove any solids or sludge. Any material which cannot be recycled must be disposed of in accordance with applicable Federal and State regulations.
- Triple rinse the tank to remove residual product and bottom sludge or sediments as much as possible.
- The residual product and wash water is then properly disposed of.
- The vent pipe and any other associated piping are removed and capped below grade.
- After completion of a job, a certification letter is provided on work performed and that it meets all local State and Fire Code Regulations.
