Tank Locating

  1. A visual search is done of the property for a filler pipe or vent pipe to the tank, or copper lines in the furnace room.
  2. If the above method is not successful a metal detector is used to attempt to find the fill cap to the tank which is often just below the surface.
  3. If the above two mentioned methods are not successful, sophisticated electronic equipment or ground penetrating radar is used.

Soil Testing

Soil tests are performed by using a split auger to retrieve the sample from under the tank or next to the underground storage tank. The test samples are then delivered to an independent fully accredited analytical testing laboratory that will test the soil for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons. All test results are provided in a written report.

  4. Tank cleaning involves the removal of liquids, solids and sludge from the tank. Any material which cannot by recycled must be disposed of in accordance with applicable Federal and State regulations. The tank may then be rinsed or washed clean.
